Younger Women
There are no hard and fast rules concerning perfumes as anyone of any age can like any scent. However there are certain brands that appeal more to women, say in their teens and 20-30's than older women. We provide a selection of these below to help you choose the perfect fragrance for you.
Calvin Kline: New York's CK are one of the worlds leading fashion designers and their perfumes are extremely popular. Recommended perfumes: Eternity has a fresh, lightly fruity fragrance with a background floral scent which is ideal for everyday use. Euphoria with its slightly stronger floral smell comes in a very stylish bottle designed by Klein and Fabien Baron, and inspired by "an orchid about to bloom". Kenzo: This fashion brand founded by Japanese designer Zenzo Takada has a very contemporary and modern feel, with their perfumes proving very popular with women in their late teens and 20's. Recommended perfumes: Flower with its delicate floral scent is ideal for everyday wear. Its especially suited for those who work in towns and cities who can look to nature for inspiration and renewal. Armour has a more vibrant scent with hints of blossom and vanilla. It is ideal for more romantic or special occasions. Jungle Elephant as the name suggests, is a full-on fruity perfume with hints of Tangerine and Mango. Chanel: This Paris fashion house founded by Coco Chanel in 1909 revolutionized fashion and design throughout the 20th century. It's a brand that has a real luxurious feel to it with their products held in high regard. Recommended perfumes: Since its lunch in 1925 Chanel No.5 has established a real cross-over appeal, being worn by women of all ages and advertised by the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Catherine Deneuve and Nicole Kidman. It has subtle scents of ylang ylang, jasmine and rose and is the perfect choice for romantic or special occasions. For a more seductive scent Allure provides a refreshing, oriental, floral fragrance. Again jasmine is present, but this time it's blended witth soft sweet spices as well as fruity notes of fresh citrus. Finally, another Chanel perfume popular with younger women is Coco Mademoiselle. This was a new interpretation of their classic stronger perfume Coco, but making the scent more fresh, light and sensual. Sparkling, lively top notes of orange and bergamot are followed by clear, pure middle notes of oriental jasmine and morning rose. Christian Dior: Dior is a leading French fashion house founded by Christian Dior in Paris during the 1940's. In similarity to Chanel it has a generally universal appeal with its perfumes loved by women of all ages. Recommended perfumes: J'adore is a fresh very feminine fragrance with scents of rose, magnolia and ylang ylang. The bottle has recently be redesigned with the spiral ring of gold adding a real appearance of luxury. The flowery fragrance is ideal for either everyday use or special occasions. Miss Dior is woody, floral fragrance ideal for younger women. It's subtle feminine notes of sage, rose, jasmine and oakmoss make it ideal for everyday wear. Updating the classic Miss Dior (which was created in 1947) Dior released Miss Dior Cherie in 2005. This is an elegant modern fragrance with a bold blend of bergamont, fressia and patchouli, which is proving very popular with younger women. Finally, Dior Addict 2 provides a fresh and feminine perfume with crisp, clean notes of bergamot, and grapefruit combined with floral notes of freesia and grenadine, soothed with warm sandalwood and white musk. Yves Saint Laurent: Founded in the swinging sixties, this brand maintains a modern, yet elegant image. It is a voluptuous rich aromatic perfume ideal for romantic occasions. Cinema is a flamboyant flowery scent with almond tree blossom and amber. Jean Paul Gaultier: One of the more edgy fashion brands, French ‘bad boy’ designer Gaultier’s products normally cause a stir. Recommended perfumes: Fragile is a warm sensuous and romantic perfume, making it the ideal choice for a partner. It has a very fruity and floral scent, being made with the Tuberose - a flower that blooms at night, therefore making it perfect for evening wear. Classique is Gaultier’s leading women’s fragrance and it has a slightly more conventional oriental scent of rose and orchid with a vanilla base. It comes in a very attractive bottle and is suitable for both everyday wear or romantic occasions. |

Celebrity Perfumes: There is a current fad for celebrity fragrances, with products available such as Beckham, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Manogue, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Sarah Jessica Parker and Paris Hilton. Although some of the perfumes are well made we’re not really big fans of this current fashion. The products however remain popular with many younger shoppers, as well as die hard fans of the stars, so it’s worth bearing that in mind when buying for a younger member of the family or friend. Our top tips: Intimately Beckham has a light fresh fragrance, while Gwen Stefani's Lamb has a sensual floral scent and a beautiful bottle (not sure about the name though?). Stella McCartney's Stella In Two Peony has an interested floral-citrus blend with notes of Pink Peony spiced up with black pepper and cedar wood. |

Armani: The Armani brand was launched in 1975 by Milan designer Giorgio Armani. They trade under several labels, with the Emporia Armani name aimed at its younger customers. Recommended perfumes: Diamonds was launched in 2007 and heavily promoted by singer Beyonce. It is initially a very fruity scent that makes way for a more floral blend of rose, freesia and lily. It's a perfect gift for any fashion conscious teen. Code's Asian inspired fragrance is perfect for any femme fatal. It's a sexy blend of zesty blood orange and ginger softened with hints of jasmine, orange blossom and vanilla. Perfect for a romantic occasion. |

Ralph Lauren: Started as a tie business in the late 1960's Ralph Lauren has developed into a leading fashion label. Recommended perfumes: Romance as its name suggests is a perfect fragrance for a romantic night out (or in). Its floral fragrance contains notes of rose, violet and musk proving to be very seductive and feminine. Pure Turquoise is a more complex scent, with an early blend of floral tones such as cassis, cereus and desert lily making way for amber, birchwood and rum tones. More suited to everyday wear, Blue is a cool, fresh and softly floral fragrance. Hugo Boss: Founded in 1923 this is leading German fashion house. Recommended perfumes: Hugo Woman is a modern, refreshing and floral fragrance. This feminine scent comprises of apple, melon, lily, jasmine with base notes of amber and vanilla. It's ideal for active everyday wear. Pure Purple is an energetic and fun perfume. Refreshing top notes of nectarine and cyclamen are blended with black velvet, marzipan, white suede and amber to make an ideal fragrance for a modern woman with attitude. Deep Red is a provocative and seductive fragrance perfect for eveningwear and romantic occasions.
